The Department of Control and Instrumentation was founded in 1960 as a response to the growing industrial demand for specialists in automated control, measurement and computer science. In 1965, a separate department of computer science came into being to reflect the specific needs of the ever more popular discipline, and almost four decades later it evolved into the current Faculty of Information Technology..
At present, students at the Department may follow Bachelor, Master and Postgraduate study programmes (completed with the BSc., MSc. or Ph.D. degrees, respectively). While the Bachelor studies are implemented within the study field Control and Measurement, the framework for the Master and Postgraduate programmes is embodied in the field of Cybernetics, Control and Measurement..
In the course of the Master’s cycle, within the Cybernetics, Control and Measurement study field, the students may choose from several research tracks. These are as follows:
- Robotics and Artificial Intelligence
- System Engineering
- Biomedical Engineering
