Department of Control and Instrumentation has been founded in 1960, when the industry indicated the need for experts in the field of automated control, measurement and computer science. In 1965 a Department of Computer Science has separated form the Department of Control and Instrumentation (recently is has transformed into a Faculty of Computer Science).

At present time students at the Department may follow Bachelor study programme (finished by Bachelors degree - Bc.), Master study programme (finished by Masters degree - Ing.) and Post-graduate study programme (finished by PhD. degree).

Bachelor study programme is performed in study field named Automation and Measurement Instrumentation, Master study programme and Post- graduate study programmes are performed in the field of Cybernetics, Automation and Measurement.
